Madanlal Damor

Madanlal Damor provides a wide range of government, banking, and digital services to the rural community through the SMARTPUR Centre. These include online applications for government welfare schemes, Aadhaar and PAN-related services, document printing and scanning, banking and digital payment services through the Banking Correspondent (BC) facility, utility bill payments, online registrations, and other citizen-centric digital services. By delivering these services locally, he saves villagers time and travel costs while improving their access to essential government and financial services.

Madanlal Damor, a resident of Bhandari Gram Panchayat, serves as a SMARTPUR Centre Operator under the SMARTPUR Project. Following the demise of his father, Late Shyamlal Damor, he took on the responsibility of supporting his family despite limited financial resources. With a strong commitment to serving his community, he started providing government and digital services through a small service centre. At that time, he had only an old laptop and a small printer, which limited the range and efficiency of services he could offer. As a result, his monthly income remained between approximately ₹5,000 and ₹7,000. In September 2024, Madanlal joined the SMARTPUR Project, implemented by REACHA with the support of Nokia. Through the project, his centre was upgraded with modern digital equipment, essential infrastructure, and ongoing technical support to strengthen service delivery. A key intervention was the installation of a solar power system, which enabled uninterrupted service delivery even during frequent power outages. Equipped with a modern laptop, printer, and other digital resources, Madanlal was able to improve the speed, efficiency, and quality of services provided to the community. Consequently, the number of beneficiaries visiting the centre increased significantly, and his monthly income rose to approximately ₹25,000–30,000. Madanlal Damor's journey is a powerful example of how access to modern technology, reliable infrastructure, and institutional support can strengthen rural entrepreneurship, improve livelihoods, and ensure better access to quality digital and government services for rural communities. He expressed his sincere gratitude to REACHA and the SMARTPUR Project for bringing this positive transformation to his life and community.

Challenges addressed

Lack of digital financial inclusion: Limited knowledge and access to digital banking, UPI, and online payment systems reduced financial inclusion. Time and financial burden: Villagers often spent considerable time and money travelling to towns for routine government services, certificates, and applications. Limited access to digital services: Villagers had to travel long distances to access online government services, banking, and digital documentation.
